2013 AAC Northeast Craggin’ Classic

Come join the fun at the AAC’s Northeast Craggin Classic Sept 13-15th in North Conway. Cathedral Mountain Guide’s Bayard Russell will be there Saturday and Sunday teaching the Trad Climbing Skills clinic with Outdoor Research.

  • Crack Climbing Skills, taught by guide and pro athlete for The North Face Mark Synnott: jamming techniques and footwork training aimed at intermediate to advanced climbers (able to follow 5.9 or harder).
  • Trad Climbing Skills, taught by guide and pro athlete for Outdoor Research Bayard Russell: learn the best techniques for granite trad climbing, aimed at beginner to intermediate climbers.
  • Trad Anchors and Protection, taught by local legend and guide Kurt Winkler: aimed at beginner to intermediate climbers who want to learn all about trad gear and building bomber anchors.
  • Women’s Trad Climbing Clinic, taught by top local climber Alexa Siegel of Mooney Mountain Guides: join an all-women’s group to work on trad climbing skills; all levels welcome.
  • Self Rescue Clinic, taught by the professional guides at International Mountain Climbing School: Do you know what to do in the event of an accident on the cliff? Brush up on your self-rescue skills: all levels welcome.
  • Multi-Pitch Systems, taught by the professional guides at Eastern Mountain Sports: aimed at intermediate to advanced climbers who want to learn techniques for efficient multi-pitch anchoring, belaying, and transitions.

There are plenty of other attractions over the weekend including a slide show on big wall free climbing by OR athlete Madaleine Sorkin and I’m really excited about Friday night’s pig roast!
